Horseback Writers
RWA: A Little Business and a Lot of Fun
The Romance Writers of America (RWA) National Conference in Atlanta was packed full of fun and adventure. Harlequin Blaze celebrated its fifth birthday.
In addition to the booksignings, workshops, parties and networking opportunities, several Harlequin authors (Cara included) accepted an invitation to join editor Brenda Chin for a day of horseback riding. Here's what Cara had to say about the outing:
Each year at the National Romance Writers of America Conference, editor Brenda Chin invites her Blaze authors to go on a little adventure. This summer in Atlanta we went horseback riding. I was given the most gentle horse (probably because I looked scared to death!) And I survived (even though the horse pretty much did what he wanted). The most exciting and frightening event of the day was when our beloved editor's horse nearly tossed her off into a stream. But Brenda held on! Yay!!
Our great trail boss Deb was more shook up than anyone. She likes to bring everyone back unharmed. We had a great time — and we each have some great stories to tell.
The romance reading community can breath a sigh of relief that they all came back in one piece. (Click on the photos for more detail...).

Forbidden Fantasy Contest!
And The Romantic Getaway Winners are...
In the sexy spirit of Cara's new release Two Hot!, check out the new Forbidden Fantasy Contest.
Thanks to everyone who entered the Most Romantic Getaway Contest! I had such a great time reading your essays. Some of you swept me away to exotic places—Italy, Mexico, and even to a game preserve in South Africa. Others showed me romance right here in the US—in Gaitlinberg, TN, the Canadian Rockies and Golden Gate Park. And one writer even described a very romantic getaway right in her own living room!
You all reminded me of something that I should already know as a romance writer—all it takes is imagination and the right person—and any place can provide a romantic getaway.
I had a tough time choosing the winner, but I finally decided to award a tie for First Place to two Susans: Susan Wise and Susan Lathen who will both receive a basket of romance. Three runners-up: Sharon Berger, Carol Thompson, and Lois Merritt – will receive autographed books (and a surprise).

Two Hot for Summer 2006
Cara is Already Heating Things Up!
Put some sizzle in your summer with Cara’s June release —
Two Hot!
When Zoë McNamara and Jed Calhoun first appeared in The Favor, I knew I had to give them their own book, especially because Zoë was so annoyed at her instant attraction to Jed. Plus, Jed had secrets, and I was dying to find out what they were.
I also had a hunch that their story would be perfect for Blaze’s Forbidden Fantasies miniseries. Since Zoë was so upset by her attraction to Jed, I wondered how she might react if she were irresistibly attracted to two different men… Will it be a case of the more the merrier?
Reviews for Two Hot!
“Cara Summers keeps the action fast and hot, making it a book the reader won’t put down.”
4 stars – RTBOOKclub
“Two Hot! lives up to its name. Hot and passionate, this one will keep you up reading all night as the plot unravels. A truly pleasurable read in more ways than one, be sure to pick it up.”
4 ½ stars – CataRomance.com
"Two Hot! definitely lives up to its title! It’s a tale of forbidden passion, love and intrigue…From the moment sexy Jed Calhoun walks into the book, Two Hot! becomes a roller coaster ride you will want to read again and again! Cara Summers weaves a delightful and suspenseful tale…one that will have you laughing, sighing with lust, and wishing you had your very own Jed Calhoun to live out your forbidden fantasies with.”

Congratulations! And a special “thank you” to everyone who entered the contests. I enjoyed reading your entries.
